Textual orientation theory is a method in analyzing a text, which involves four essences: time, place, participants and factuality. Since a speech is typically a communicative activity, this theory can be applied in it as a dif-ferent analysis method. This paper takes Kennedy’s inaugural address as ex-ample, trying to analyze it from the four essences of textual orientation, in or-der to better and profoundly understand it.
