Efficacy of lacosamine combined with oxcarbazepine in treatment of focal epilepsy and influence on EEG band power,serum toll-like receptor-4(TLR-4)and nuclear transcription factor-κB(NF-κB)levels
Objective To investigate the efficacy of lacosamine combined with oxcarbazepine in the treat-ment of focal epilepsy and the effects on EEG band power,serum toll-like receptor-4(TLR-4)and nuclear transcription factor-κB(NF-κB)levels.Methods During the period from January 2022 to February 2023,a selection of 102 patients diagnosed with focal epilepsy were specifically chosen from the hospital.The pa-tients were randomly assigned to the baseline group or the experimental group using the random number table method,resulting in an equal distribution of 51 cases in each group.The baseline group was treated with oxcarbazepine,and the experimental group was treated with lacosamine combined with oxcarbaz-epine.Both groups were evaluated after 6 months of the treatment.The seizure frequency and EEG fre-quency were compared of the patients between the 2 groups before the treatment and 6 months after the treatment,and the levels of serum TLR-4 and NF-κB were detected.The relationship between levels of TLR-4,NF-κB and therapeutic effect in 2 groups after 6 months of treatment was analyzed.The incidence of adverse reactions during treatment was analyzed.Results The total effective rate of experimental group was higher than that of baseline group(P<0.05).After 6 months of the treatment,the frequency of sei-zures in both groups were decreased,and the experimental group was lower than the baseline group(P<0.05).After 6 months of the treatment,a and β band power was increased,δ and θ band power was de-creased,and the change range of experimental group was greater than that of baseline group(P<0.05).After 6 months of treatment,the levels of TLR-4(r=-0.820,-0.666,P<0.001)and NF-κB(r=-0.744,-0.643,P<0.001)in the experimental group and baseline group were negatively correlated with the therapeutic effect.There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the experimental group and the baseline group(P>0.05).Conclusion Lacosamine combined with oxcar-bazepine has significant efficacy in the treatment of focal epilepsy,which can effectively improve the EEG band power and reduce the seizure frequency,and the safety is guaranteed.
