Chain mediating effect of purposive rumination and perceived vulnerability between perceived social support and family function in parents of children with epilepsy
Objective To explore the chain mediating effect of purposive rumination and perceived vulnera-bility between perceived social support and family function in parents of children with epilepsy. Methods Per-ceived Social Support Scale(PSSS),Event Related Rumination Inventory(C-ERRI),Parent Perceived Vulnerability Scale(CVS)and Family Function Scale Ⅱ(FACES Ⅱ)were used to evaluate the perceived social support, purposive rumination, perceived vulnerabilityand family function of theparents of 226 chil-dren with epilepsy. The process plug-in of SPSS software was used to construct the chain mediation mod-el,and the Bootstrap method was used to test the mediating effect between variables. Results The total scores of perceived social support, purposive rumination, perceived vulnerability and family function of theparents of children with epilepsy were(55.56±11.72),(15.37±4.64),(20.41±4.19)and(79.26±18.63)respectively.Pearson correlation analysis showed that perceived social support of the parents was positively correlated with purposive rumination and family function(all P<0.01),and perceived vulnera-bility of the parents was negatively correlated with perceived social support, purposive rumination and family function(all P<0.01).Mediating effect analysis showed that the total effect of perceived social support on family function of the parents of children was 0.689.Purposive rumination and perceived vul-nerability played a partial mediating role in the effect of perceived social support on family function,ac-counting for 28.16%and 29.03%of the mediating effect respectively, and the chain mediating effect of the 2 accounted for 11.18%of the total effect. Conclusions Purposive rumination and perceived vulnera-bility play a chain mediating role between perceived social support and family function in parents of chil-dren with epilepsy.Medical staff should pay attention to helping parents of children with epilepsy to estab-lish an effective social support network, guide parents of children to think positively, alleviate their inner perception vulnerability, and ensure the best family function.
