Association study between folate metabolizing enzyme MTHFR gene polymorphism and recurrent abortion
Objective To investigate the correlation between recurrent miscarriage(RSA)and polymorphisms of the folate metabolising enzyme MTHFR genes C677T and A1298C,MTRR gene A66G.Methods A total of 121 non-pregnant patients who attended the infertility department,gynaecology and obstetrics department of the People's Hospital of Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture,Xinjiang,and were diagnosed with recurrent miscarriage from August 2022 to November 2023 were selected as the RSA group,and an additional 129 women of childbearing age who were undergoing health care consultation in our hospital during the same period were selected as the normal control group.Gene polymorphisms at the MTHFR C677T and A1298C,MTRR gene A66G loci were analyzed in the two groups by PCR gold magnetic particle method.Results Compared the genotypes of the two groups,the frequency of distribution of MTHFR gene TT type at C677T locus and CC type at A1298C locus,and GG type at MTRR gene A66G locus were higher in the recurrent miscarriage group than in the healthy group(P<0.05).The rate of high risk of folic acid in the recurrent miscarriage group(8.26%)was higher than the rate of high risk of folic acid in the healthy group(1.55%),and the rate of low risk(22.31%)was lower than that in the healthy group(37.21%)(P<0.05).Conclusion The t allele of MTHFR C677T and the C allele of A1298C,and the G allele of MTRR gene A66G may increase the risk of occurrence of recurrent miscarriage in the population of Baja region.
