Reliability and validity of simplified copying style questionnaire in female patients with urinary incontinence
Objective To investigate the reliability and validity of the Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire(SCSQ)in female patients with urinary incontinence(UI),and to provide a reference for the evaluation of coping style in female UI patients. Methods A total of 316 female UI residents in the community were recruited and evaluated through SCSQ and other scales. The total correlation co-efficient of the questionnaire was used to analyze the items of the scale.Cronbach's α coefficient was used for reliability analysis,corre-lation analysis tested calibration validity, and factor analysis tested structural validity, convergence validity and discriminative validity. Results When SCSQ is applied in female UI patients,it needed to be revised appropriately. The revised Cronbach's α of SCSQ total scale was 0.89,the positive coping scale Cronbach's α was 090,and the negative coping scale Cronbach's α was 0.75.Positive coping dimension subscale score was positively correlated with SSRS score(r=0.16,P<0.01).Negative coping dimension subscale score was positively correlated with HAMD-24 score(r=0.18,P<0.01),was positively correlated with the score of HAMA-14(r=0.23,P<0.01),was negatively correlated with SSRS(r=-0.18,P<0.01).The model fit well(C2/df=1.71,RMSEA=0.07,GFI=0.87,CFI=0.91,IFI=0.91,TLI=0.90),the convergent validity met criteria(AVE=0.43/0.38,CR=0.90/0.78),and the discriminative validity was ideal there was a significant correlation between the two dimensions, but the correlation coefficient was less than 0.5 and less than the square root of AVE.Conclusions Appropriately revised SCSQ has good reliability and validity in female UI patients, and it can be used to evaluate coping style of female UI patients.
