Analysis of homocysteine distribution and related influencing factors in a community of Urumqi
Objective To investigate the distribution characteristics of homocysteine(Hcy)among residents in a community in Urumqi, and to analyze the prevalence of hyperhomocysteinemia(HHcy)and its related effects. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted on the physical examination population in a community in Urumqi fromJuly 2021 to December 2021.At first, the gender and age of the subjects meeting the requirements of the subject were counted.Next, the blood samples were collected. Then,Hcy and folic acid levels were detected.Later, the differences in Hcy and folic acid levels of different genders and ages were analyzed. Finally, the correlation between folic acid and Hcy was analyzed. Results The mean value of the folate of males was lower than that of females(P<0.05).The median level of Hcy of males was higher than that of females(P<0.001).Hcy in postmenopausal women was higher than that in premenopausal women(P<0.05).With the increase of folate,Hcy showed a downward trend, and the two showed a negative cor-relation.Conclusion The level of homocysteine among residents in the community of Urumqi was high. The homocysteine level in males was generally higher than that in females. The folate level in males was generally lower than that in females.Age,menopause and folic acid levels were the factors that influenced homocysteine.
