Skin imaging techniques applied in the diagnosis of granulomatous skin disease
Objective To observe the image characteristics of granulomatous skin diseasess by reflection confocal microscopy(Re-flectance Confocal Microscopy,RCM)and dermoscopy, and to discuss the application value of RCM and dermoscopy in the diagnosis of granulomatous dermatosis. Methods The RCM and dermoscopic image features of 14 cases of granulomatous dermatosis diagnosed by histopathology were analyzed retrospectively. It was compared with histopathological changes. Results 1.The characteristic tissue-like cells in RCM,after lipidization or phagocytosis of foreign bodies, showed a uniform structure of medium and high refraction. The differ-ent manifestations were different according to the difference of volume size, distribution quantity and shape.2.A homogeneous yellow-red background under dermoscopy corresponded to epithelioid cell granuloma in the dermis. Conclusion The RCM and dermoscopic image features of granulomato-associated skin diseases have a good corresponding relationship with histopathology, and various histo-pathological cells in RCM images have more specific characteristics. The combined application provides important clues for the diagno-sis or differential diagnosis of the disease and complements each other, which has good clinical application value.
