Efficacy and safety of intracavitary radiofrequency ablation combined with point stripping for varicose veins of lower extremities
Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of ultrasound-guided intracavitary radiofrequency ablation combined with spot stripping for varicose veins of lower extremities.Method A retrospective study was conducted on the data of patients who re-ceived surgical treatment for varicose veins of lower limbs in the People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from Septem-ber 2021 to January 2022.Eighty patients(89 limbs)who met the research criteria were included for analysis and divided into two groups according to different surgical methods. There were 40 cases(49 limbs)in the RFA group and 40 cases(40 limbs)in the tradi-tional exfoliation group. The recovery of patients in the two groups during perioperative period and 12 months of follow-up was statisti-cally analyzed. Results The success rate of surgery in both groups was 100%,no serious complications were observed. The occlusion rate of great saphenous vein in RFA group reached 93.8%one year after operation. The length of stay, intraoperative blood loss and postoperative skin ecchymosis in RFA group were less than those in traditional stripping group(P<0.05).Pain score at 1 day and 1 week was significantly lower in the RFA group than in the traditional stripping group(P<0.05),and no difference was found between the two groups at 1 month after surgery. There was also fewer subcutaneous hematoma, local nerve injury and incision infection in RFA group than in traditional stripping group, but there was no statistical difference(P>0.05).At the same time, there was no statistical dif-ference between the two groups in superficial calf vein recurrence 12 month after surgery(P>0.05).Conclusion Ultrasound-guided in-tracavitary RFA combined with point stripping in the treatment of varicosity veins of lower extremities is more minimally invasive, has the advantages of shorter hospital stay, less intraoperative blood loss, less pain, and faster postoperative recovery. It is an alternative to traditional surgical treatment and worthy of clinical promotion.
