摘要
"文化资本"概念具有双重性,是一个具体概念,更是一个抽象概念.作为具体概念的"文化资本"可以对应现实中具体的物品、符号,但是文化资本的抽象本质不在于符号形式本身,而是以符号形式出现的社会关系,即统治群体实行文化专断的权力.然而,当下教育实证研究往往都只将"文化资本"当作具体概念使用,仅仅关注哪些形式构成了文化资本,进而忽视了布迪厄理论与文化不利论、经济决定论的差异,也模糊了布迪厄理论的批判焦点.对文化资本概念的运用需要回归其抽象性,将分析的焦点放在使特定文化成为文化资本的动态过程上,将批判的矛头对准教育机构、教育制度中的专断权力,寻找通过学校改革、制度变革推动教育公平的出路.
Abstract
"Cultural Capital"in Bourdieu's theory is not only a concrete concept but also an abstract one.As a concrete concept,"Cultural Capital"refers to specific objects or symbol-ic forms that can be touched,seen,heard or felt.But the nature of cultural capital is not the objects themselves but social relations and power embodied in the substantial objects or sym-bolic forms,which is the dominators'cultural arbitrary power.However,educational empiri-cal studies often treat"cultural capital"as a concrete concept and leave its abstract nature and the dynamic power relations out of discussions.Consequently,these empirical studies applying Bourdieu's theory send a more determinist and pessimistic message than Bourdieu does him-self.More importantly,ignoring the abstract nature of cultural capital also led empirical stud-ies to lose Bourdieu's critical spirits that target institutions and systems.This paper argues that empirical studies should direct more attention to the abstract nature of cultural capital and focus on what makes certain objects cultural capital rather than merely what counts as cultural capital.This means that educational researchers should focus on the arbitrary power in educa-tional institutions and systems.
