Development and Reliability Verification of Online Psychological Experiment Tool Based on WeChat Mini Program
The drive to enhance the external validity and convenience of psychology experiments has prompted the transition of psychology research to the online platform.Online psychology experiments offer rapid data acquisition, high authenticity, and large sample sizes. However, most available tools are web-based,with a significant absence of mobile-based experimental tools. Therefore, the present study created an internet-based experimental tool utilizing the WeChat Mini Program and evaluated its reliability through cognitive control experiments based on the flanker paradigm and its variants. The study findings showed that the WeChat Mini Program successfully replicated all three cognitive control components, demonstrating the classical flanker effect. There are differences between the performance of iPhones and Android phones and between low-configuration phones and mid-and high-configuration phones. The relationships between the cognitive control components agreed with the theoretical consensus. In conclusion, the WeChat Mini Program exhibits reliable performance as an online experimental tool for psychology. However,it is essential to consider the effects of device type and configuration.
