The Effects of Cleanliness Priming and Moral Event Types on Moral Judgment:The Moderating Effect of Emotion
This study examined the effects of cleanliness priming and moral event type on moral judgment,as well as the moderating role of emotion.Experiment 1 utilized a mixed experimental design and found an interactive effect of cleanliness priming and moral event type on moral judgment.Specifically, moral judgment tended to be more stringent in cases of direct cleanliness priming when the event type was purely moral.Experiment 2 employed a between-subjects design and found that cleanliness priming led to more lenient moral judgments when individuals felt disgust or anger, but stricter moral judgments when they felt pleasure.
