Inhibitory Effect and Safety Evaluation of Crithmum Maritimum Fermentation
Crithmum maritimum fermentation product(CMF)was obtained by fermentation technology. The effects of CMF on melanogenesis and melanogenesis-related targets were investigated using tyrosinase,B16 melanoma cells and human immortal keratinocyte line cells(HaCaT)as experimental models. The safety experiments were also carried out to detect the satety of its application. The results claimed that CMF possessed significantly high DPPH radical scavenging activities with IC50 value of 0.87%.It could not only effectively inhibit the activity of tyrosinase in cells, but also significantly inhibit the relative expression of microphthalmia-associated transcription factor(MITF)mRNA and tyrosinase-related protein 1(TRP-1)mRNA.Only 33.82%residual tyrosinase activity was retained in B16 cells in contrasting with the model group with the addition of 2%(in mass fraction)CMF.In addition,CMF had an effect on decreasing the production of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)and interleukin(IL-1β)which played an vital importance in the activation of the tyrosinase. The red blood cell hemolysis test and human patch test confirmed that the CMF had no biological toxicity and could be used in cosmetics safely.
