Simultaneous Determination of Seven Artificial Sweeteners in Toothpaste by UPLC-MS/MS
A simple and rapid method was developed for the determination of seven artificial sweeteners in toothpaste by ultra performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(UPLC-MS/MS).The samples were extracted and diluted with 50%(volume fraction)ethanol, then performed on an Acquity UPLC BEH C18 column(100 mm×2.1 mm×1.7 μm)with the mobile phases of 0.1%(volume fraction)formic acid and acetonitrile by gradient elution. The identification and quantitation of seven artificial sweeteners were performed by UPLC-MS/MS in positive electrospray ionization and multiple reaction monitoring(MRM)mode.Aspartame showed good linear relationship in the range of 4-120 ng/mL,and other six sweeteners like saccharin sodium,acesulfame-K,cyclamate,sucralose,alitame and neotame calibration curves had good linearity in the range of 10-300 ng/mL with correlation coefficient(r2)≥0.998 9.The recoveries of seven investigated sweeteners varied from 96.51%to 104.87%with the relative standard deviations(RSDs)in 0.83%-2.73%.The limits of detection were 0.004-0.050 g/kg.The established method is efficient, sensitive, and can be applied for the rapid determination of seven artificial sweeteners in toothpaste.
