Determination of 51 Antihistamines in Cosmetics by High Performance Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry
A high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(LC-MS-MS)method was established for the simultaneous detection of 51 antihistamines including desloratadine in cosmetics. The samples were extracted ultrasonically with 10 mmol/L ammonium acetate methanol solution, and then filtered through 0.2 μm membrane. The analytes were separated by Eclipse Plus C18 column(100 mm×3.0 mm×1.8 μm)with a gradient elution of 10 mmol/L ammonium acetate and methanol. The analytes were quantified by the external standard method in multiple reaction monitoring(MRM)mode with electrospray ion source in positive and negative modes. The correlation coefficients of the standard calibration curves were greater than 0.999 in the range of 2-50 ng/mL.The limits of detection and limits of quantification were 0.15 µg/g and 0.5 µg/g,respectively.The average recoveries of 51 antihistamines ranged from 70.3%to 127.8%at the spiked levels of 0.5,1.0,5.0 µg/g in 8 different cosmetics matrices including water-based liquid,lotion,cream,face-mask,oil,gel,power and wax, with the relative standard deviations(RSDs)less than 7.7%(n=6).The developed method is simple, rapid, exclusive, sensitive, accurate and precise, and can be applied in the quantitative of 51 antihistamines in cosmetics.
