Simultaneous Determination of 17 Preservatives and Antioxidants in Toothpaste by HPLC
A method for the simultaneous determination of 17 preservatives and antioxidants in toothpaste by high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)was established. The sample was extracted by methanol, separated by Capcell Pak C18 MGⅡcolumn, eluted with acetonitrile-methanol-0.02 mol/L ammonium acetate solution, and detected at 280 nm by HPLC-diode array detector(DAD).The external standard method was used to quantify the content. The results showed a good linearity in the range of 4.43-542.61 μg/mL with the correlation coefficients(R2)of 0.997 75-0.999 96.The recovery rates were 81.7%-116.7%,the relative standard deviations(RSDs)were no more than 2.9%,and the within-day precisions were 0.3%-2.1%.The limits of detection were in the range of 0.2-5.1 μg/g,and the limits of quantitation were in the range of 0.5-17 μg/g.The method is sensitive, accurate, fast, stable, and meets the daily inspection needs of 17 preservatives and antioxidants in toothpaste.
