Simultaneous Determination of Ten Colorants in Children's Makeup Cosmetics by High Performance Liquid Chromatography
A high performance liquid chromatographic(HPLC)method was developed for the simultaneous determination of 10 colorants(solvent green 7,acid yellow 1,food yellow 3,orange 1,acid orange 7,food red 9,food red 7,food red 17,food red 1,acid red 87)in children's makeup cosmetics by optimizing the mobile phase elution process and increasing the pretreatment steps such as centrifugation. The colorant contents of 32 batches of children's makeuo cosmetics were determined. The results showed that the 10 colorants had a good linear relationship within the corresponding mass concentration range, and the correlation coefficients(R2)≥0.999 2.The average extraction recoveries of 9 colorants ranged from 87.11%to 103.65%,and the relative standard deviations(RSDs)were all less than 3%(n=6).They closed or exceeded the requirements of Safety and Technical Standards for Cosmetics(2015 edition),which were 84.7%-104.6%,and the RSDs were less than 6.0%(n=6).This method is simple, accurate and reliable, and it can be used to detect the 10 colorants in cosmetics such as lipstick, nail polish, liquid eyeliner and powder.
