Objective To explore the curative effects of telmisartan combined with carvedilol in the treatment of hypertension complicated with diabetes mellitus. Methods A total of 230 patients with hypertensive complicated with type-2 diabetes were randomly divided into telmisartan group, carvedilol group and combination group. On the basis of conventional antidiabetic treatment, the three groups were treated with telmisartan, carvedilol, and telmisartan combined with carvedilol. After three months of treatment, the curative effects among the three groups were compared. Results After the treatment, the systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure and heart rate in the combination group were lower than the other two groups (P < 0.05),and the blood pressure control rate was higher than that in the other two groups(P < 0.05).For renal function, the three renal function indicators in the combination group were lower than those in the other two groups (P < 0.05).There was no significant difference in adverse reactions among the three groups (P > 0.05).Conclusion Telmisartan combined with carvedilol can improve the blood pressure, heart rate and renal function in patients 1with hypertension and diabetes mellitus, and has good efficacy and safety.
