Objective To explore the effects and safety of edaravone combined with atorvastatin in the treatment of cerebral infarction. Methods A total of 92 patients with cerebral infarction admitted to our hospital were selected and randomly divided into a control group (n =45) and a combination group (n =47).On the basis of conventional treatment, the control group was additionally treated with atorvastatin and the combination group with edaravone combined with atorvastatin. The changes in the blood lipid level, clinical efficacy and NIHSS before and after the treatment between the two groups were compared.During the six-month follow-up visit after the treatment, the incidence of adverse reactions, recurrence rate and death rate were recorded. Results The post-treatment blood lipid level in the two groups decreased greatly,NIHSS decreased, too (P < 0.05);there was no significant difference in the blood lipid level between the two groups (P > 0.05);the NIHSS in the combination group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05);the ORR in the combination group was 80.9%,which was significantly higher than that (62.2%) in the control group (P < 0.05).During the follow-up visit, the recurrence rate(26.7%) in the control group was significantly higher than that (10.6%) in the combination group (P < 0.05).There was no death in the two groups. The combination with the two drugs did not increase the incidence of adverse reactions. Conclusion Edaravone combined with atorvastatin can significantly promote the recovery of neurological function in patients with cerebral infarction, and lower the recurrence rate and the incidence of adverse reactions.
