Preparation and Properties of Rubber Powder-Cement Mortar Flexible Artificial Coarse Aggregate
To improve the vibration damping and energy dissipation performance of concrete materials, waste tire rubber powder was added into cement mortar to produce flexible artificial coarse aggregate with both load-bearing and energy dissipation capabilities.Through various tests such as bulk density, water absorption rate, crushing index, single particle strength,free-fall rebound, and uniaxial compression of concrete, the study explores the influence of rubber powder content and particle size on the basic properties, mechanical properties, and energy dissipation performance of the artificial coarse aggregate. The results show that the flexible rubber powder-cement mortar artificial coarse aggregate has good basic performance and good compressive strength and can significantly improve the energy dissipation performance of concrete.Under the condition of using rubber powder particles with a size range of 250-380 μm and a volume addition of 20%,the energy dissipation rate of flexible artificial coarse aggregate has increased by 21.2 percentage points compared to natural aggregate. The energy dissipation of concrete containing flexible artificial coarse aggregate is 1.294 MJ·m-3 higher than that of natural aggregate concrete while the compressive strength is unaffected. The flexible artificial coarse aggregate prepared by the research can significantly improve the energy dissipation performance of concrete, which provides new materials for projects with high self-damping performance requirements and achieves the reuse of waste rub-ber resources.
