A Comparative Study of Large Banks in China and the United States on the Path to Building a Financial Powerhouse——From the Perspective of Value Creation
The Central Financial Work Conference held at the end of October 2023 proposed to"accelerate the construction of a financial powerhouse",and elevated financial work to a national strategic level.In January 2024,General Secretary Xi Jin-ping delivered an important speech at the opening ceremony of the special semi-nar on promoting high-quality financial development for key leading cadres at the provincial and ministerial lev-els,in which he proposed that a financial powerhouse needs to have a series of key core financial elements,one of which is"strong financial institutions".In this regard,large financial institutions,especially large banks,should take greater responsibility and draw from world-class financial enterprises'experiences,continuously enhance market competitiveness and international influence.This article conducts a comparative study of large banks in China and the United States from the perspective of value creation,analyzing the differences in business structure,operational efficiency,and distribution models between the two countries.This paper draws conclusions and puts forward suggestions based on comprehensive comparisons,aiming to provide certain references for China's large banks to become better and stronger,to develop with high quality,as well as to build a financial powerhouse.
