Innovation and Identification of a New Sweetpotato Cultivar ‘ Xuzishu No.3’ with High Anthocyanin Content and High Starch Content
‘ Xuzishu No.3’ is a newly released sweetpotato cultivar with high anthocyanin content and high starch content. It is the progeny of a cross among ‘ Ayamurasaki’ with high anthocyanin content and ‘ Xushu 18’.After evaluated in multi-place,it was identified as National Varieties Appraisal Sweetpotato 20011019 by the National Sweetpotato New Varieties Appraisal Committee in 2011.‘ Xuzishu No.3’ was studied on its morphological characteristics, quality characteristics, diseases resistance and productivity. It was steady during all growth period. The storage root was purple skin color and purple flesh color with long elliptic shape. The storage root formation was open cluster with good commodity characters. The dry matter content and starch content were 35.44 % and 24.46 %,respectively, and were higher than its parents most significantly. The anthocyanin content in fresh storage root was up to 1105.4 μg/g,and the anthocyanin yield was more than 23 kg/hm2,and increased 26.98 % to ‘ Ayamurasaki’.It was resistant to stem nematode and black rot,and was better than its parents most significantly. The yields of fresh storage root and dry matter were 23.87t/hm2 and 8.36 kg/hm2 respectively by evaluated during 2007 to 2010.Compared with its parents,it had increased 3.42 % in yield of fresh storage root than that of average of its parents. The yields of dry matter and starch were increased in 12.22 % and 22.60 % than its parent ‘ Xushu 18’ with high yield in 0.01% different level. It was suitable for extracting anthocyanin and processing purple starch, and for utilizing in sweetpotato breeding of high anthocyanin, resistant to black rot,and high starch.
