In order to further study the mineral element distribution in cassava root and enhance its comprehensive utilization, the contents of seven mineral elements in the head, middle and end sections of the whole root, flesh and cortex of six cassava germplasms by plasma emission spectroscopy were analyzed. The results showed that the contents of K,Ca,Mg,Fe,Mn,Zn,Cu in the dry flesh were 333.1-620.8,28.7-150.7,45.0-132.3,1.08-4.10,0.36-1.05,0.47-1.81,0.12-0.32 mg/100g,respectively,and the nutrition values of some mineral elements in the flesh of cassava root were higher than that in potato, brown rlce,or as high as sweet potato and wheat. The contents of Ca,Mn,Zn,Fe,K and Cu in the cortex were 2.4-16.2,3.1-7.8,1.8-7.7,1.1-6.5,1.1-2.6,1.1-2.5 times higher than that in the flesh, and the nutrition values of some mineral elements in the cortex of cassava root were higher than or as high as that in dates, walnuts and almond, therefore, the comprehensive utilization of the cortex of cassava root was worthy of attention. There were close correlation among Ca,Mn,Zn in different parts of cassava root.
