Effects of different feeding regime on growth performance, breeding benefit and serum biochemical indexes of Chaka lambs after early weaning
[Objective]The present study aimed to access the effect of different feeding regime on growth performance, breeding benefit, and serum biochemical indices on Chaka lambs after early weaning.[Method]Forty healthy Chaka male lambs with similar body weight(5.94± 0.34 kg)and age(20±1 day)were selected with unique ear tag.The experimental animals were randomly divided into early weaning group(groups A,B,C)and reared with mother milk group(group D).Each groups had ten lambs.Lambs in early weaning groups were weaned at 21 days of age and fed with milk replacer.Until 60 days of age,the treatment groups(A,B,C,respectively)were fed with different diet combinations, that was, group A:starter feed+oats hay+corn silage;group B:starter feed+cats hay;group C:starter feed+corn silage. The experimental period was 65 days.[Result]For growth performance, the weight gain(16.43 kg),average daily weight gain(156.48 g/day),weight gain ratio(362.32%)and forage conversion efficiency(4.28)of lambs in group A were significantly higher than those in other groups(P<0.05,the same as below),but there was no significant difference between groups B and C(P>0.05,the same as below). In terms of breeding income, lambs reared with mother group had the lowest income(171.16 ¥/sheep).Different forage combi-nations significantly improved the breeding benefits of lambs, among which group A had the highest breeding income of 217.35 ¥/sheep.For renal function, the renal function in group A was significantly improved, mainly manifested by lower BUN(7.12 mmol/L)and UA(122.25 μmol/L).In terms of immune function, the contents of immunoglobulin G(IgG)and immunoglobulin A(IgA)in group A were significantly higher than those in other groups. There was no significant difference in immunoglobulin M(IgM)between treatments.[Conclu-sion]The combination feeding of starter feed, corn silage and oats hay after early weaning is beneficial to the growth performance, breeding income and organism functions of Chaka lambs. The herdsmen should establish the concept of early weaning, and improve the feeding level of lambs through scientific feeding management to obtain a better growth performance and breeding income.
