Research on the Relationship between the Ming General Mao Wenlong and Korea during the Ming and Qing Dynasty Revolution
At the time of the Ming-Qing transition, the war between Ming and Houjin was inevitable, and the result of the struggle directly decided who would be the leader of the tributary system in East Asia in the future.Behind the seemingly clear confrontation between enemies and allies and the apparent alternation of the old and the new, there were also hidden members of the tributary system who were observing and protecting themselves, colluding with multiple parties, and even waiting for a price to sell.As a Ming general,Mao Wenlong represented the Ming Dynasty in Korea to fulfill his obligation to protect the national security of Korea, but he was involved in the vortex of the three-way game between Ming,Houjin and Korea. As a closest member of the Ming Dynasty tributary system,Korea,on the one hand, protected and suspected Mao Wenlong, and on the other hand, maintained a semi-subordinate status with Houjin.Un-doubtedly,the relationship between the Ming general Mao Wenlong and Korea provides us with an ideal perspective to observe the actual state of the internal relationship of the East Asian tributary system on the eve of the Ming-Qing transition.
