"Chinese Spirit"as an Iconic Concept:Semantic Generation and Political Elucidation
The Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China demonstrates the historical resilience and practical endurance of"seeing reform through",which is a vivid manifestation of promoting the process of Chinese-style modernization with the"Reform Spirit".The spirit is aconcentrated embodiment of the"Chi-nese Spirit"in the process of reform and opening-up and the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics,which greatly enriches it meanwhile.As an iconic concept with Chinese characteristics,"Chinese Spirit"has its unique generation context and evolution process.The"Chinese Spirit"was nurtured and sprouted from traditional Chinese cul-ture and the conscious exploration of the Chinese people's salvation and survival,laying the foundation for the original semantic concept centered on the"Chinese Soul";It was generated and evolved from the great practice of revolution,construction and reform of the CPC,expanding the double semantics of"spirit of the nation"and"spirit of the times";It is regulated and deepened through theoretical innovation since the new era,gradually developing into a discourse sys-tem that combines"macro theoretical framework"and"micro practical narratives".Based on the investigation of con-ceptual history,the development of"Chinese Spirit"presents many basic aspects:adjusting the connotation of"Chinese Spirit"according to the development of the times;balancing the"academic rationality"and"political nature"of the"Chinese Spirit";the sublimation of the"Chinese Spirit"needs to be put into individuals'spiritual strengthening;taking"Chinese Spirit"as the starting point to expand the construction of independent knowledge system of"China as the method".By comprehensively and systematically grasping the development laws of concepts,not only can the conceptu-al foundation and knowledge coordinates of the"Chinese Spirit"be firmly established,but it is also conducive to telling the story of China well and showcasing the real,authentic,and comprehensive images of China.
