Alkali Catalyzed Aqueous Glycerol Pretreatment of Sugarcane Bagasse
This study introduced an alkali-catalyzed aqueous glycerol pretreatment for fractionation of sugarcane bagasse to improve the enzymatic hydrolysability. The pretreatment conditions were optimized at 180 ℃,7% NaOH addition,45 min,and 80% glycerol in an aqueous solution. The pretreatment led to 93.0% and 83.4% cellulose and hemicellulose retention, respectively, while 80% of the delignification indicated a satisfactory component fractionation.Subsequently, the enzymatic hydrolysis of the pretreated substrate(20 g/L)was 79.6% at the hydrolytic condition of 10 FPU/g-dry substrate(CTec 2)for 72 h,meaning that the pretreated substrate was capable of good enzymatic hydrolysability. The structural evolution of sugarcane bagasse before and after the pretreatment was analyzed by modern analytical techniques, and the reason for the good enzymatic hydrolysability of lignocellulose substrate contributed by alkali-catalyzed aqueous glycerol pretreatment was preliminarily made.
