Effects of adding sunflower plate powder to feed on production performance and meat quality of mutton sheep
The experiment was conducted to study the effects of different Ⅰ evels of sunflower powder on the production perform-ance and meat quality of Hu sheep.40 male Hu lambs aged about 3 months were randomly divided into 4 groups with 10 lambs in each group. The additional levels of sunflower disk powder in the concentrate of each group were 0(Group CK),5%(Group Ⅰ),10%(Group Ⅱ),and 15%(Group Ⅲ),respectively. The results showed that the average daily gain of sheep in Group Ⅱ was significantly higher than that in Group CK(p<0.05),and there was no significant difference between Group Ⅰ and Group Ⅲ compared with Group CK.Compared with Group CK,the slaughter rate, eye muscle area, net meat rate and GR value of Group Ⅰ and Group Ⅱ were not significantly different.Compared with Group CK,the eye muscle area of Group Ⅲ decreased significantly(p<0.05),and the slaughter rate, net meat rate, and GR value were not significantly different. The shear force,PH(45 min)value and drip loss of mutton in Group Ⅰ,Group Ⅱ,and Group Ⅲ were not significantly different from those in Group CK,but the cooked meat rate in Group Ⅲ was significantly lower than that in Group CK(p<0.05),and there was no significant difference among other groups. The results showed that the addition of an appropriate amount of sunflower plate powder in concentrate could improve the weight gain of Hu sheep, and had no significant effect on slaughter performance and meat quality.
