In recent years, there has been an increasing trend of cases of carbon monoxide(CO)poisoning caused by gas leaks or fires. However, there have been few reports on cases how CO poisoning leads to hearing impairment. This article reports a case of CO poisoning resulting in hearing loss, providing detailed descriptions of clinical manifestations, imaging findings, and other test results.Based on relevant literature from both domestic and international sources, the article conducted an in-depth analysis of the pathogenesis of hearing loss in such cases. The results showed that cerebral ischemia and hypoxia caused by CO poisoning involved the posterior limb of internal capsule in the auditory central conduction pathway, and could also cause vasodilation and contraction of the Round window membrane, resulting in blood circulation disorders in the inner ear,as well as cell damage and inflammation leading to hydrotympanum and other changes. Therefore, this article explores the relationship between CO poisoning and hearing loss,as well as summarizes the characteristics of CO-induced hearing loss and relevant forensic identification points. The aim of this article is to enhance awareness and prevention of CO poisoning cases, provide scientific evidence for judicial practice, and offer guidance and reference for forensic experts.
