By analyzing the category"P7 Oceanography"in Chinese Library Classification(5th edition),it was found that there are problems such as incomplete system,chaotic structure,and non-standard coding,which will have adverse effects on the literature clustering function and reader utilization.Based on recent marine science textbooks,reference books,and relevant national policies and regulations regarding the principle that marine science consists of fundamental and technical disciplines,suggestions for modifying its classification system are proposed in order to conform to the disciplinary composition and development trend of marine science,improve the clustering function of marine literature,and provide improvement references for the further revision of Chinese Library Classification.
