Cooperation and Innovation:A Fundamental Approach to Sustainable Development of Social Organizations—A Case Study of A Association in J City of G Province
In the traditional paradigm of social organization research, there is a tendency to overem-phasize the"binary opposition"between government and society, organization and environment. With a case study of A association in J city of G province, this paper attempts to clarify the far-reaching signifi-cance of cooperation and innovation to the sustainable development of social organizations through a systematic investigation on its transformation and development process from the dual perspectives of cooperative game theory and innovation theory. The study found that the key to the successful transforma-tion of A association from a grassroots organization to one of local voluntary service organizations with very good development momentum lies in its initiative to choose an action strategy of cooperation and innovation. On the one hand, this paper points out through the case study that the cooperative behavior of social organizations has unique political and cultural advantages in China, enabling it to be incorporated into the overall framework of national governance and turn into a reality. On the other hand,it holds that there is a long historical foundation, profound cultural accumulation, pressing practical needs and strong subjects of practice for social organization innovation in China, coupled with the diverse contents and forms of innovation, resulting in greater possibilities and feasibility for the sustainable development of social organization innovation. Therefore, adhering to both cooperation and innovation is an inevitable choice for social organizations to pursue sustainable development.
