An Analysis on Temporal and Spatial Characteristics of Innovation Network and Regional Economic Growth in the Yangtze River Delta Cities and Their Action Mechanism
Innovation network is an important driver in promoting regional innovation and economic growth,and the action mechanism of innovation network on regional economic growth becomes a hot topic in the economic geography study.Taking 41 cities in the Yangtze River Delta as an example,based on the patent data of cooperative inventions in the incoPat patent database as well as the panel data of socio-economic statistics from 2010 to 2021,and with the help of quantitative analysis tools such as ArcGIS,MaxDEA and Stata,this paper analyzes the spatial structure evolution of innovation network,dynamic characteristics of regional economic growth,and the action mechanism of innovation network on regional economic growth in the Yangtze River Delta cities.The results show that the innovation networks in the Yangtze River Delta are increasingly connected,and the spatial structures of two types of intra-city and inter-city innovation networks are highly similar,showing a Z-shaped spatial structure with Hefei-Nanjing-Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo as the core.The regional economic growth in the Yangtze River Delta in general is relatively high and remains stable,and the metropolitan area with Shanghai as the core has become a strong driver for regional economic growth in the Yangtze River Delta.Regional economic growth is mainly positively influenced by the inter-city innovation networks,while intra-city innovation networks have no significant effect on regional economic growth.However,intra-city innovation networks can complement inter-city innovation networks by acquiring local tacit knowledge.
