Evaluation and Correction of Juvenile Delinquent Behaviors Based on the RNR Model
Serious juvenile violence caused widespread social concerns in recent years. As a legal response, the Amendment(Ⅺ)to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China lowered the age of criminal responsibility to 12 years old in a timely manner. Therefore,it is imperative to extend the research scopes of the subject of crime and explore the patterns of juvenile delinquency and their correction, which is conducive to responding to social concerns and improving the effectiveness of criminal punishment. In this study, the risk-need-responsivity(RNR)model was used to conduct semi-structured psychological interviews with 80 juvenile delinquents. While assessing the risk levels of their personal and antisocial behaviors, the paper conducted both qualitative and quantitative analyses on the risk factors of juvenile delinquent behaviors. It aims to reveal the variable relationship among criminal risks, individual needs, and social relations of juvenile delinquents and identify the key risk factors that derive from the social relations and cause frequent delinquent behaviors so as to formulate more effective and better corrective measures.
