From Modeling Simulation,Generative Simulation to Intelligent Simulation-The Past,Present and Future of Simulation Technology
The development of simulation technology has gone through two stages:physical-modeling-driven and data-generation-driven,both have effectively solved the pressing problems in their respective ages. However, the current complex open environment and artificial general intelligence put forward higher requirements for both physical and visual realism of simulation,i.e.,the need for an intelligent simulation paradigm, which is consistent with the real environment in both"surface"(visual)and"interior"(physical)aspects.Intelligent simulation can not only accurately portray the physical and dynamic characteristics of the simulation object, but also visually present the simulation content realistically, achieving a"dual reality"of physics and vision, thereby bridging the gap between numerical analysis simulation and computer vision simulation, providing a better test basis and verification environment for the development of general-purpose and multi-modal artificial intelligence in the next step. The history and status of simulation technology are discussed in this paper from three stages of the traditional physical modeling simulation,data-generation simulation, and intelligent simulation. The future of simulation technology is also envisaged in the light of applications.
