Expansion of the theory of residential stratification:Based on the market friction
To re-explores residential stratification of people with heterogeneous income,in the monocentric model,we account for the market friction that public services are enjoyed by people according their house ownership and there is minimum area of the house. It is found that there are people with zero income elasticity of housing demand, and completed stratification and mixed stratification. In the completed stratification, the more urban public services, the less number of poor people in the suburbs and the more welfare of all people. In the mixed stratification, the more urban public services, the more number of poor people in the suburbs and the less welfare of urban rigid demanders. The increase of land supply in the suburbs would attract low-income people to the suburbs in the completed stratification, but would reduce the suburban low-income people in the mixed stratification.
