Review on supply chain modelling when supply side holds private information
Information asymmetry commonly exists among supply chain members, which has an important impact on the supply chain's operations. The supply side usually acts as the raw material supplier or product manufacturer and possesses private operational information, which leads to information asymmetry between the supply side and downstream buyer. This paper summarizes the types of private information that the supply side may hold from both practical and theoretical perspectives and analyzes the research status and trend in supply chains where the supply side possesses private information, based on the bibliometric method. The paper then discusses the modelling features of the supply chain when the supply side holds private information, focusing on the information screening and signaling models. The supply chain members'decision-makings are discussed and contract design schemes are summarized. Finally, considering the practical problems such as supply capability uncertainty and decisionmakers'risk attitudes, this paper outlines future research prospects from four aspects.
