Xingtai is a prefecture-level city in southern Hebei Province with a long history,and the city's name can be traced back to"Jing"in the Western Zhou Dynasty.The name"Xingtai"first appeared in epitaph text until the reign of Emperor Dezong of the middle Tang Dynasty,and its use thereafter expanded to historical books and documents.As an unofficial place name,"Xingtai"in this period refers to both Xingzhou City and Xingzhou Administrative District.The political and geographical connotations changed in the end of the Northern Song Dynasty and"Xingtai"became the legal name of the county.Research on this process will help to deepen the understanding of Xingtai's history and culture.
