The Influence of the Thoughts of Zhuangzi on the Literary Figure Su Shunqin of the Northern Song Dynasty
Su Shunqin was a statesman and writer in the Northern Song Dynasty.His short life can be divided into two completely different stages by the incident of the Memorial-presenting Court.In the first half of his life,he was influenced by Confucianism and longed for fame and achievements.Deeply influenced by the thoughts of Zhuangzi,he lived in seclusion in the countryside,focused on writing and avoided visiting.No matter in which stage,Su Shunqin's life clearly reflects the thoughts of Zhuangzi.From the perspectives of Su Shunqin's ambition,personality,writing style and attitude towards life in his later years,this paper explains the profound influence of the thoughts of Zhuangzi on Su Shunqin's conduct as a person and an official as well as his writing.
