When the dynasty changed from Ming to Qing, many literati faced a dilemma between keeping themself flawless and becoming officials.Yang Sisheng is an important representative figure of the Heshuo Poetry School and a famous poet in the Jifu region during late Ming and early Qing dynasties. His experience in the imperial examination in the late Ming Dynasty made him feel ashamed to serve two emperors when serving in the Qing Dynasty. However, with the comfort of the thought of seclusion and zen of Buddhism,he held onto the Confucian sentiment of entering the world and caring about people's livelihoods.Yang Sisheng's concern for the suffering of the people coincided with Du Fu's concern for all sentient beings, providing him with an important opportunity to accept Du Fu's poetics. His complex of seclusion,as well as his acceptance of zen of Buddhism, are the roots of his poetry's elegant and profound style. In addition,Yang Sisheng's experience and his emotional journey after serving in the Qing Dynasty coincided with the physical and mental experiences of the vast majority of those who were deprived of their aspirations during the transition from Ming to Qing Dynasty.Under the influence of similar experiences, the poetic style of this group of disloyal officials tended to homogenization, becoming an important component of the poetry scene in the early Qing Dynasty.
