Family communication is a key way for family structure to be established and main-tained,and is an important proposition in interpersonal communication research.This paper focuses on the interactions among grandparents,parents,and children in Chinese families on the WeChat platform about COVID-19 vaccines.It examines the types and roles of intergenerational family communication from the three dimensions of information acquisition,information sharing and information feedback re-spectively,and further analyzes the dissolution of place boundaries of family life and the promotion of individualization of family life by the mediatization of family communication.In this way,this paper will portray the new media's technical affordance to the disembedding and wandering of grandparents and children.
