Productive and Relational Journalism Innovations:A Study of the Users'Engagement with Political Vlogs
Based on the Hard and Soft News theory,this study examines the feasibility of Chinese mainstream media reporting political news in a softened manner from the perspective of news user en-gagement.Using three Frontline of Major Country Diplomacy political Vlogs from the@CCTVNews Weibo account,the study employs thematic modeling and social network analysis to examine user com-ments and retweets,and investigates the factors influencing user interaction.The findings reveal that users show varying levels of attention to different types of news facts,with greater emphasis on format innovation and user experience.Additionally,celebrity idol fans and entertainment bloggers play a piv-otal role in the retweet network,and comments related to user experience and the Vloggers promote us-er engagement.Political Vlogs represent a form of productive news innovation by mainstream media to gain the attention of news users.They also serve to dynamically aggregate users,improve user experi-ence,and foster emotional and trust connections between the media and users,resulting in relational in-novation.
