Development and Inspection of Algorithmic Information Cocoons Susceptibility Measurement Scale
The algorithmic information cocoon has become a topic of significant interest in academia and the public, given its relevance in today's algorithmic society. However, measuring the degree of information cocooning has proven to have methodological flaws,as questionnaire surveys used to measure it rely on individual subjective feelings and cannot account for specific contextual factors. In this article,we propose the concept of"algorithmic information cocoon susceptibility"to shift the focus to individual factors and develop six measurement indicators through in-depth interviews and expert focus group interviews. We use data from two questionnaire surveys to develop a 19-question scale, providing a tool for studying the micro-level media effects of algorithmic information cocoons.
