Collective Reading of"Marxism":The Gathering of Intellectuals in the Initial Period of the Communist Party of China
Different from the previous reading history research which paid more attention to the "private reading"of silent comprehension, this paper examines the"collective reading"of Marxist intellectuals before and after the founding of the Communist Party of China. The research holds that the social ideological trend and institutional media before and after the May Fourth Movement make the communication and reading of advanced intellectuals present the characteristics of"cluster".In the era of limited communication conditions, intellectuals pursued Marxism in the mixed thoughts through"common reading"in small groups.Along with the founding of the CPC,the collective reading of"doctrines"and the convergence of intellectuals promoted each other, and"organized reading"became an important way to educate on"doctrines"within the Party and to develop an organizational network after the founding of the Party. In this way, from the early"cluster reading""common reading"based on the May Fourth clique and loose ideology to"organized reading",a Marxist collective reading vein gradually unfolded in the early years of the CPC in a more organized and faith-based manner.
