Mobility as A Method:Digital Nomad in Rural China——A Case Study of Guangshan Digital Nomad Base
In recent years, the concept and mode of digital nomad have gained popularity in the field of rural revitalization. However, imported digital nomad essentially represents an internet product, where rural areas appear more as cultural and ecological spaces for consumption, and meaningful interactions between young people and rural communities are rare.Nevertheless, during the localization journey, some digital nomad bases in China have begun to adapt the concept.Through field observations of these new practices, this study finds that the construction of digital nomad base in rural China no longer follows the logic of internet as the dominant paradigm.Instead,it focuses on addressing the last mile problem of youth integration into rural areas, guided by the goal of high-quality county-level development and in alignment with the rural revitalization strategy.By creating opportunities for interaction between young people and rural communities, the base explores innovative ways of integrated production and living that combine urban and rural elements. The mobility of youth becomes the method to address the challenges of resource flow between urban and rural areas.Focusing on mobility represents a return to communication at the theoretical level.
