Reevaluating"Affective Publics":User Actions and Theoretical Update for Digital Journalism
Based on the new technological context, the theoretical system of digital journalism continues to absorb users and their participation actions. The affective publics theory, which has received attention in recent years,is representative of these theoretical efforts. The affective publics theory is born out of the understanding of networked publics. It explores the unity process and connection actions of network users and understands the flow of information and user practices in the digital age in a non-linear and uncertain way. From the four perspectives of ecological connection, diversified action, symbolic role, and flat relationship, the affective publics theory advocates treating affect as the core driving force of digital news studies, and believes that users'complex participation actions are emerging variables in the development of digital journalism.Digital journalism studies should continue to explore the public aspects and everyday political potential of emotional elements.
