Agents as Actors:Reconfiguring the Future Paradigm of Human Relationships——An Examination and Analysis from the Perspective of NBIC Converging Technology
With the rapid advancement of agent technologies, the human-machine relationship has evolved from traditional mechanistic views to paradigms rooted in organicism and cybernetics, and the interpersonal relationship has also shifted from the strong"human-to-human"relationship to the strong"human-agent-human"relationship mediated by intelligent agents. The emergence of cybernetics marked the end of the mechanistic-organic dichotomy, conceptualizing humans and agents as self-regulating organisms.Nowadays, agents as actors are not merely used as tools but also can form dynamic relationships with social mechanisms that interact with each other, exhibiting new characteristics, including pervasive participation in cognition and decision-making,anthropomorphized behavioral coordination, and purpose-oriented construction of practice scenarios, which leads the formation of a synergistic and symbiotic network of relationships between humans and machines, extending across intersubjective boundaries. In the future, the emergence of new intelligent species is going to break traditional norms and reconfigure human relationship patterns, triggering a comprehensive evolution, dimensional enhancement, and expansion of communication methods, which is of all elements, all links, and all process between people, scenes, society, and practice.Characterized agents will generate clustering and synergistic effects, forming a"human-machine network"and driving the evolution of social mechanisms and cultural practices. On this foundation, human relationships will self-organize,gradually dissolving the boundaries of the"three worlds".
