Examining the diversity of digital platform development from a global perspective——An interview with former ICA President,Professor Terry Flew
Internet platform governance has become a hot topic in international communication research.At present,what kinds of characteristics are emerging in the trend of"the return of nation-states"of global Internet platform governance?How has the rise of internet platforms impacted the development of digital journalism?What impact will generative Al technologies have on digital journalism,journalism education,and journalism research?With these questions in mind,this article invites Professor Terry Flew from the University of Sydney,to share his insights on topics such as global Internet platform regulation,digital journalism,artificial intelligence and communication research.Professor Flew believes that the understanding of Internet history must transcend"Chinese exceptionalism"and"American exceptionalism"and establish a common comparative framework from the perspective of global political economy;AIGC's impact on the media industry will be revolutionary,and communication scholars can provide a unique perspective for the study of artificial intelligence,while Chinese scholars will contribute to understanding the diversity of Internet platforms and digital media ecology.
