Reshaping Chinese Anthropology:Becoming a New Liberal Arts to View the World
Chinese anthropologists have been calling for the discipline of anthropology to be upgraded within the established pattern of Chinese social sciences for many years,but the reality shows that anthropology can be naturally improved by reshaping itself and participating in the transformation of social sciences in the construction of New Liberal Arts.In a new society with increasing technological innovation and mobility,Chinese anthropology has evolved from pioneering overseas ethnography to integrating world social studies at home and overseas.This evolution coincides with the rise of regional and national studies,allowing Chinese anthropology to make important contributions,such as providing perspectives,methods,concepts of holism,and comparative empirical cases for all disciplines of social sciences.This process enables Chinese social sciences to become the Chinese Epistemic Community that bridges the gap between China and the world in empirical research,so as to reshape its academic identity and status in the construction of new liberal arts that allows the world to see the world through a Chinese lens.
