Consultation Box:Spatial Communication and the Formation of Rural Doctor-Patient Communities
The consultation box accompanies rural doctors in their medical practice and flows with them in the same space and time, becoming an important material node and symbol in the structure of the rural medical system, which is an important issue in rural health communication.Through a field survey of rural doctors in Henan,Shaanxi, and Chongqing, and the use of material-oriented qualitative interviews, the triple spatial communication content of"material, memory, and relationship"of the mobile clinic box and its interactive network were generated through three levels of coding.Compared with the triadic spatial theory of nature, spirit and society proposed by Lefebvre, this paper is more inclined to agree on the material basis of space and the triadic relationship. The study breaks the binary division between"things"and"people",and reveals how the mobile clinic box plays a role in the formation of grassroots doctor-patient relationship, enhances the identity of village doctors, and participates in the production of relational networks, emotional experiences and communication landscapes in the vernacular society,so as to promote the formation of a good and stable village doctor-patient community.
