Mediation Role of Earphones:Auditory Cocoons within the Practical,Social and Technology Dimensions
This paper focuses on the current daily practice, taking young deep earphone users as the research object, through in-depth interviews with 18 users, trying to explore how the"technical characteristics"of earphones have changed the listening practice of their users. And what impact did it have on its practical results? The study found that headphones not only intervene in people's listening practice, but also participate in the reality construction of individuals to transform their life experience, which is embodied in two modes of"self-centered rewriting of time and space boundaries"and"self-centered emotional experience adjustment".And the consequences of"private listening"and"customized listening"have consequences. The study believes that the auditory practice mediated by earphones forms an"auditory cocoon"under the triple dimension of real participation, social communication and technology. The"auditory cocoons"has the dual form of"place"in the sense of virtual space and"non-place"in real space, and also has a dual effect:"auditory cocoons"is not only the result of the Shape plastic power between the individual and the space in which he is located, but also the resistance strategy of the individual to cope with the"meaningless"and"uncontrolled"space; To some extent,it also leads to the absence of the"self'at the practical level and the objectification in the technical dimension.
