Mao Zedong's first work of journalistic literature was Selected Works of Mao Zedong's Journalism published in 1983.The Communist Party of China considers it a"guiding work"in its over-century-long journalistic history.Previous research has focused on elucidating the ideological value of its content.To a considerable extent,they neglected its history.From the perspective of publishing history,this study made several findings regarding its history and impact.In the context of the new era,a historical review can present the trajectory of its genesis and its complete meaning.It also reveals its historical experience and practical inspiration in its competition for cultural leadership against the New Enlightenment movement while serving the overall work of the Party and the country.
